Flip Flop Wines (Riesling Review)

I was excited to receive 3 bottles of this great wine from Flip Flop Wines. I received a Riesling, Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir.

The flip flop collection includes Chardonnay,Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Moscato, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir.

I love sweet wines and I have to say that a good Rielsing is a favorite in my house. The Flip Flop Reisling tastes like a Medium-bodied, Riesling with peach, apricot and melon which lead to a satisfying, smooth finish.

This wine not only tastes amazing, but has a really great cost associated with it. They are about $7.00 at local Wal-Mart stores. My friend *K* and I tried some and both of us really enjoyed it. I even had some tonight while getting dinner ready. It has "kept" well for a week in the fridge since I first opened it as well.

My husband says it's a little strong. I say, thank you, more for me.

Another wonderful thing about Flip Flop Wines is that they  have partnered with Soles4Souls Inc.
This international shoe charity is dedicated to providing free footwear to those in need. The program will raise much needed funds to give one pair of flip-flop sandals for each bottle of flip flop wine purchased (up to 100,000pairs for the first 100,000 bottles sold, where promotion is legal. To learn more about Soles4Souls, please visit: http://www.soles4souls.org/

I really like this and our Preschool has donated to Soles4Souls in the past, so I know what an amazing charity this is.

Flip Flop Wines has a fantastic Facebook page, check it out.

What Summer Getaways will you and your family experience this year?

School here in Florida is about 2 weeks from drawing to a close. My boys are looking forward to sleeping in, time with their friends, our pre-planned vacation, and the summer camps we have already set up.

I am sure each parent has things they want their child to experience over the summer. Maybe something new, or a family outing... We all want them to be safe and have fun.. Before I let you know what are plans our, I want to share what I think 5 things every child should do over the summer..

*1* Go Camping
While it is hotter than all get out here in Central Florida, I think every kids deserves to camp out. A state park with a campground or a KOA. Someplace where you can relax in the cold crisp spring water or tube down a river. Roast hot dogs over a campfire, make smores, and catch fireflies.

*2* Visit a Museum
Now, to a child, it may sound boring, but there are some great hands on children's museums. Interactive exhibits and hands on experiences will foster growth over the summer and while they have no idea that they are learning, they will be. Not only is this great to allow them to learn new things, but when they return to school, their enthusiasm for this particular outing can bring about wonderful things for other children. It may even  create a field trip.

*3* Visit a Theme Park/Water park
Whether it's a small theme park in your city or state, or you take a big trip to visit Disney or Six Flags, it's important to have the element of fun. Theme parks bring families together as well as allowing each member the opportunity to enjoy their own thrills and chills on particular rides. A Water Park is a particular hit during the summer. Most Water Parks have areas throughout to suit all age ranges from the wee little toddlers, to the beach loving teens, water sliding and even mock surfing... I'm a fan of the lazy river myself...

*4* A Historic Site
I would love to take my kids to see the Presidents carved into the side of a mountain, or view the awe of the Grand Canyon. There are so many historical locations all over the US, that it doesn't have to be a cross country trip. A little research and good planning can make this an exciting time. A scavenger hunt for historical tidbits at the location or a Historic Bingo game will allow learning and fun for the kids and the parents will not only enjoy watching the interaction, but maybe get a history lesson themselves (I sure could use a brush up course)

*5* A trip to see family
Not everyone lives close to their relatives and the summer offers a great opportunity to see Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Grandparents. A road trip, plane ride, or just a skip across town to visit family can be refreshing. For those who live far away, it's a time to reconnect, for the children to see a different way of life, or part of the country.

As for my family and I, we have a variety of things planned. Cub Scout camp, some camps at the YMCA (Flag football and arts & crafts camps), our Pre-School will have their Kids Morning Out Program open and all 3 boys will go some Mommy can enjoy some time off too. This will give my oldest some Volunteer time as well. We have Scout activities throughout the Summer, hopefully at least 1 trip to a Disney Theme Park (as we live only 1.5 hours away) and our family trip to Horseheads, New York. This is where my husband grew up and we are going for our 2nd year to see more and do more than last year. It's wonderful to show our children that small town life can be just as fulfilling as living is a larger city.

Father's Day is coming and I need ideas

I swear, each year it becomes more and more difficult for me to decide on something for my husband for Father's Day.
I don't focus on one particular hobby or point in his daily grind. I try to do a couple of things, one being sweet, another funny.. These things are always something he can use.
It's been a funny "Dunder Mifflin" t-shirt or  funny coffee mugs. I have done the golf thing (a hobby of his).
Heck, the man has a massage gift certificate given to him by his mom from 3 years ago! (and complains I never do anything for myself).. But I digress..(not really)

I did get him to go with me for a pedicure for Mother's day and he was instantly hooked, so that may be an option. The kiddies can go to Camp/Summer Kids Morning Out, and I can take hubby for a pedicure & his beloved Dunkin Donuts Coffee (which we can get only in the mall now since our DD burned down a month ago).

Hubby & His sister during his gifted birthday trip to Brooklyn in 2010
I even sent him away (well for his birthday), to Brooklyn, NY to visit his sister.. He enjoyed the time there but travelling home was a nightmare, so that will never happen again. I bought him a leather bound personalized journal because he wanted to start writing a memoir. That was when I was pregnant with our
now 5 year old son. He carries it to work in his messenger bag everyday and has for 5 years. Every page inside is blank. But he has started writing just in the past 2 weeks, he just uses his netbook now.

I need ideas, suggestions, help.... There is no point in asking him. I do know he wants a new surround sound system for the house, which is do-able.

I'd like to find something thoughtful, meaningful, memorable.. He's an amazing Father and Husband. He works his tail off and affords me the opportunity to stay home with our 3 boys instead of asking me to work outside of the home.

I have a month.. A month to decide on that perfect something.. although, if it's an order online perfect something, I have less time that that. eek!

My Carrabba's Pasta Personality Quiz results and more

I love Carrabba's! My Sister-In_law and I (who share the same Birthday) love to celebrate at Carrabba's. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is fabulous, and everyone enjoys themselves. Unfortunately, once the kids came along, it just became to too difficult to enjoy the family time in the restaurant, so now, we use their Curbside Carry Out Service and not only do we get to enjoy Carrabba's food, but we get to do it at home and where all the children can do their thing, while we enjoy dinner and each other's company.

Carrabba's has just introduced their Carrabba's Pasta Personality Quiz..
I decided to take it and see if my personality was my favorite dish (which is Chicken Parm)..

Well, it turns out, my personality is:
Spaghetti...
You’re genuine and well loved, like Carrabba’s Spaghetti and Meatballs. Your warm and comforting personality makes you everybody’s best friend. So go for our equally popular hand-prepared meatballs over perfectly cooked imported spaghetti.

The fact that I am spaghetti, is kind of ironic. My Father-In-Law makes the most amazing homemade sauce that I do my best to replicate. I love to take the time to make this delicious sauce and then share it with family and friends. I always try to make enough to freeze as well. It really is a labor of love.

It's a tradition in the family to give a new mom, several small containers of the sauce so it's an easy meal when caring for the new baby.. I have gotten this wonderful gift 3 times and it's just so wonderful!

The ingredients include; tomato paste, garlic, onion, stew meat chunks, mild italian sausage (though we choose to not include this one when making it for ourselves), olive oil, and believe it or not, shortening (such as crisco) It literally takes all day and it's not one of those, leave it and go recipes. It needs to be stirred and watched.

Now, I cannot share the exact measurements as this is a Family Recipe handed down so I do not want to get myself in trouble with my husband's family.

When my Father-In-Law makes the sauce, it's usually a Steak and Spaghetti night at their house and the whole family shows up. All 5 grandkids (my 3, and my Brother-In-Law's 2 girls) will eat his dinner. It's a wonderful time to share a good meal and spend time on a regular day with those you love.

Store Brand Formula is equal to Name brand Formula

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of storebrandformula.com for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

With my 3 boys, I switched out between name brand and store brand formulas. I had one particular "type" i stuck with but since I could get it in either name or store brand, it just depended on the cost or coupons at the time of purchase.

I was shocked to hear how one name brand claimed their product was superior to a store brand. I always thought highly of the Name brand Enfamil.

The case centered on the successful argument by PBM Products, Perrigo’s store brand infant formula business, that Enfamil’s advertisements of superiority to store brand formulas were false and misleading because store brand formulas offer the same nutrients at the same levels as Enfamil.

The ingredients are basically the same and the options that the store brands offer are pretty much equal to the name brand formulas. I never noticed a difference between the 2 formulas in any of my 3 kids.

There are so many options out there for formula and in the end, you, as a parent, must decide what is best for your child.

To answer any questions you may have about store brand formula, you can go to storebrandformula.com.

To read  more information about the case in question, you can read about it here.

Why am I a Proud Mom, let me share..

As any Mom will tell you, there are many things that can make you proud. All the Milestones of course (first smile, word, step, etc). Good grades, Good Deeds, Good behavior.. All of those things can make you a proud Mom (or Dad).

But why am I proud? I am proud to even be a mom.. After years of infertility and multiple unsuccessful treatments, I finally had a child. A precious healthy boy. A moment I would have loved to have shared with my mom. She would have been proud.

And as the years passed, I was blessed to become a proud Mom 2 more times. With 3 healthy boys crazily tearing through my house, I can say that there are just to many moments that I am proud of..

The moment I can quietly tiptoe to one of the bedrooms and see my 8 year old reading a book to his 2 younger brothers. Or knowing my 5 year old is okay outside playing with his own friends, without his big brother. Or hearing my 2 year old ask to go to school (Kids Morning Out, but he doesn't know that yet). While it makes me proud, I am sad as well. I know they are growing and will "need" me less and less as each year passes, and then knowing that they are okay, makes me proud again.

These moments make my heart swell. These moments tell me that I am doing okay as a mom and that my kids are okay too.

My oldest son is a Cub Scout and last fall he had to sell popcorn for the pack. One of the weekends we had a garage sale, he had to go to the Tiger growl and welcome the new cub scouts for the day and he so very much wanted to try to sell popcorn at the garage sale. After my husband and son left, my middle son asked if he could set up a table and sell popcorn for his big brother. There was no bribery, no asking, it was just something he wanted to do. And so he did. Though my garage sale did not rake in the dough, and Anthony only sold a couple of boxes for Luke, to watch this selfless act, was an amazing thing.

I can go on  and on.. Karate and cub Scout achievements, my 5year old puzzle king, and how my kids thrive on making each other laugh or how they play their paper jam guitars together like their own rock n' roll band.

These things, these beautiful unscripted moments and small acts of unselfish motivation, make me wonderfully proud. Those moments are when you have to sneak off and wipe the tears, because you know if they see you cry they'll either be embarrassed or worried.

I know now those moments my Mom experienced quietly to herself. I can still see her smirky smile and still feel the hugs I received, when she was proud of me. My hope is that I can make her as proud of me, as a Mom. I hope that I can continue to experience these amazing gifts through my children, these everyday moments that I am given, and am able to allow them to be as proud of me as I am of them.

"This is an entry to the Proud Mom contest, I'm in the running to win $50! Sponsored by UPrinting event ticket printing services!"

Lilla Rose Flexi Clip Review

Can I say much I love my Flexi Clip! It is versatile and works with all the ways I put my hair up.
I was nervous at first. Even though I watched the video and chose the size I felt was appropriate, my hair is thin and just doesn't stay very well when I put it up.

But the Lilla Rose Flexi Clip did exactly what it says it will.

The Flexi Hair Clip comes in six sizes to accommodate different hair types and styles. Depending on the amount and type of hair, you might use a small for a Ponytail, but a large for a French Twist. Below are resources to help you determine what size(s) of Flexi you need, and also how to do 8 common hair styles to keep things fresh.

I did 3 different styles with my Medium Length, moderately thin hair. I swept it back, pulled it in a half twist, and put it in a pony tail. all with the Small Flexi Clip.

Close up of my Flexi Clip

Swept back

my half twist updo (a typical daily thing for me)

Low set Ponytail
The Sliding Pin is excellent for choosing how loose or tight I want the clip to be and i chose the Simple Band Dark Brown Small Flexi Clip [sku 1-1294].

I love the variety of clips. Some are simple, some are elegant, some have dangles. They come in different finishes and there is something to suit most every person.

I can see this product being a gift for some of my friends and family. Most have longer hair and they always pull it up at some point..

Verizon Fios makes my life as a mom easy!

I love our Verizon Fios Service. We’ve had 3 different Cable/Internet/Phone companies in our 13 years in this house, but decided that we had to return to Verizon a few years ago when they introduced Fios in our area.

There are some wonderful things Verizon Fios provides me, as a Mom, that I love.

I love Parental Controls. Now, I know most cable companies have this, but it really does make my life easier. There are just certain things I don’t want my 3 small boys watching (like violent cartoons) and I can rest easy that they cannot have access to them. Another thing is that Verizon Fios has an app for my Itouch Ipod. Hello!! Sometimes, after my kids are at school and I get home, the controller has disappeared. I downloaded the app and now can control my cable box right from my Itouch. Absolutely amazing & incredibly handy until one of my boys gets home to show me that the controller was shoved behind Wii games so the other could not change the channel.

I also love the Widgets Verizon has. I can check traffic for hubby when he calls and is stuck on his way home, or, Tweet about my favorite Social Moms topic. The weather is helpful when my oldest is getting ready for school. They are constantly updating the Widgets and it is a fantastic feature.

One thing I recently discovered is that I could utilize the Verizon Media Manager on my computer and access videos, photos, and music from my computer, right on my TV. I can also listen to radio stations from around the country. My husband loves the fact that he can connect to YouTube through Verizon Fios and watch videos on our TV.

One other thing that Verizon does for me is allow me to combine my Verizon Home bill with my cell phone bill. This makes my bill paying simpler and takes less time to pay just one bill online.

The On Demand feature is a favorite of the whole family and makes me very happy that when others take over during my TV time, I can use the OnDemand feature to go back and watch those Prime Time shows I missed, or the ones that come on later than I stay up. It makes my littlest happy (which makes me happy) that we can get his favorite Sprout shows.

Verizon Fios phone service allows me to check my phone messages from the internet or dial a toll free number when I am on vacation. I can forward my calls (to my cell phone) on a schedule or just when I am out of the house. I can check my email from any computer too.

These little things that make my life simpler and easier go a long way.

MyClns Review

This is a great product for me as my little Anthony has 2 left feet..
He is my scrape up, skinned knee, boo boo monster..

I like the MyClyns spray because when my little guys get hurt while we are out of the house, I don't always have something *right there*, especially when it comes to their face. Anthony fell while on the trail walking to Luke's school and it was easy to sray the MyClyns, no alcohol burning and then be okay until we could get home and really clean it up.

The MyClyns spray is critical to lower your chance of becoming infected. In cases of exposure, you need a product that works effectively and is safe to use anywhere.

MyClyns Personal Spray is the only non-alcohol option you can keep in your pocket and apply directly to your face and skin, when other options are not available.

Oh.. my head & throat (more of a whine today than a rambling)

My littlest had a bad cough last week (mucus & runny nose). While this week he is better, I began to feel it over the weekend. Today has been the worst of it though... My throat and chest hurt from the coughing and from trying to get rid of whatever accumulates in my throat (ick, sorry).
I tried some NyQuil last night but awoke more so than usual.. I feel like I have a fever but 3 thermometers say no..

My oldest called from school & when I picked him up, he was starting with the cough as well..

I wish I could crawl back into bed, but if there are an SAHM's out there with small children, you know it isn't possible.. I'm thinking some dayquil and a cup of hot tea sounds soothing...

So Excited about the new cake pops I just picked up!

Last month I took advantage of an Eversave deal from Bliss Pops.
I had Teacher Appreciation Week on the brain..

Bliss Pops are decadent ball size bits of moist cake, dipped and topped...

Let me share with you what I received today...

Chocolate SinRich dark chocolate cake mixed with chocolate buttercream, dipped in dark chocolate, sprinkled with a chocolate "streusel".  Sure to satisfy that chocolate craving!

These Bliss pops were wrapped up and tied up with a beautiful chocolate colored bow.

Teresa's Bliss pops are located in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida but she does ship!
Check out the menu for amazing flavor selections including brownie & cheesecake.

I am so excited to share these Sweet Treats with our Teachers tomorrow..
