Luke and his new Heely's [Vlog review]

My oldest has been asking for a pair of Heely's for several years.
After his uncoordinated fall and arm break in kindergarten (involving a skateboard and ramp), I have been hesitant.
But recently I was given the opportunity to review a pair of Heely's and either I could try them (oh, that would make AFV) or allow my oldest to ~finally~ have a pair.
Guess which I chose ..
Oh yes, I chose correctly. I am so uncoordinated and would have ended up in the ER.

I let Luke make his 2 choices on style and he received the "Edge" Blue and Yellow Heely's. He generally wears a 2.5 sized Boys shoe, so I got him a size 3. The material seems durable, and I like the colors.

The Heely's came with the wheels in a bag, which I had to put in the shoe. The tool was provided and it was a simple process. He likes to run and glide, which freaks me out, I won't lie. I can just see him falling backwards and hitting his head. Our rule is he can wear them outside to play and sometimes if we have an errand, but NEVER to school. Not even if we take the wheels out. These are strictly an out of school shoe.

I had him practice on the back patio before heading out to play with his friends. He does well.

Here is his 1st attempt ever on his Heely's

And our interview afterwards

Luke has been practicing with his Heely's and is now ready to give you an update!

I am really happy with how these shoes have held up and that my son has not yet fallen or gotten injured (knock on wood!).

Oh the van joy... Rant and ramblings included

On Oct 9, 2010, I purchased a 2005 Mazda MPV. Only 38,000 miles, decent condition, smaller than my Sedona, but priced where we needed it to be...
Until these blog posts had to occur:
What a week already 10/27/10, ugh, my van 11/22/10, Good is Good, I am an idiot 2/10/11

So last week, we're driving along, doing the things we do everyday until...
clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk, clunk.
OH NO !!! (no, those were not the words used, but this is a family blog)
If I accelerated more than 38 MPH, this noise would happen until about 50, then it quieted a little. It also occurred 10 MPH or below. So as soon as I got home, I called the Dealership and arranged to have it looked at the next morning.
After 2 hours of no word, they said, maybe an axle, but they needed to take apart the front end (gulp).
I received a rental/loaner for the day.
That evening, I got the call. I needed an axle ($400), sway bar links ($250), and oil was leaking [which we knew] from 2 different valves in the engine ($1100) [which we did not know].

Hubby was none too pleased.  I couldn't blame him. I was beyond peeved! What a lemon I bought :(
We agreed that we needed to fix the axle and this would make the van safe for me to drive. The other items we would live with until after the new year and then trade in the MPV.

Nope, Friday while at work, hubby started sending me links to vans, SUVs, and wagons. He was not willing to dump any more money into this thing.

On Saturday Morning, I cleaned up the MPV because hubby wanted to look around. We grabbed our pre-approval forms from our bank, grabbed snacks, drinks, and ipods and headed out.

And so let me introduce you to the newest addition to our family. This is our 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan with 30,000 miles. Some nice older couple decided they didn't need a mini-van since moving away from their grand-kids. It has Stow N' Go and Automatic sliding doors [which the boys are in love with].

I am hoping and praying this van lasts longer than 1 year.

Creating Scrapbooking pages with My Memories

I used to scrapbook, back when I only had 1 child, back when I felt like time was on my side. Once my 2nd came along, time felt short. I sold or donated everything that had to do with scrapbooking. I thought about starting back up, but then #3 came along.. Yeah.. No more scrapbooking for me.
All my photos are digital. I share them mostly online. Why do I need a scrap book?

But then I heard about My Memories Suite.
This software package is an online scrapbooking dream.

I decided to make a couple of pages with the software. It was super easy.
Pumpkin Patch

From My Birthday

There were quite a few free templates, plus lots you could buy additionally, and I found some on clearance for as low as $0.49 and $0.69 cents. It was awesome.

I am very excited to use this new software for so many things. I am grateful to My Memories for allowing me to review their program.

You can purchase the software and have it shipped to  you (cd-rom and instructions in a retail box) or, as I did, download the software directly to my computer from the My Memories Suite site.

My Birthday evening

First, Thank you to everyone who wished my a Happy Birthday via my Birthday Giveaway yesterday.
It was a good  great AMAZING day!
My 2yo and I spent a nice day hanging out. Nothing special, just an normal Friday.
My 8yo had karate and was told he could test for his next belt (yay). My 5 year old just was as awesome as ever.
I have 3 very wonderful boys!

So hubby took me out to dinner to The Columbia at Sand Key. A nice Columbian restaurant on the Beach. Amazing food, great service, nice atmosphere (a little overpriced).

taken with my new Samsung Charge

He seemed giddy and I was waiting for a clown to jump out or the staff to sing to me but it didn't happen.
He and the boys got me 3 birthstone charms for my "Pandora" style bracelet.

Upon my arrival home, my In-laws, who had been watching our boys seemed giddy. I couldn't figure it out.
Then a knock on the door, and a family friend walked in. I admit I was surprised to see her as she was out of town, just got back and we had made plans for the weekend.

But that wasn't my surprise...

My surprise was my baby brother walking through the door. I spoke to him earlier and he said he was in Louisiana (where he lived). But there he was, in my family room.

But Wait, There's more !!

I am then told, that my little brother, my only blood sibling, packed up everything, and drove from LA to FL to live here again :) Closer to his nephews who adore him, closer to me...

I am grateful to our family friend because she made this possible. He is in her house (spare room) and rent free for now. (They also dated a million years ago and she is like my little sister now as well).

Now I understand why everyone was acting weird around me and why hubby was giddy all night.

The best Birthday EVER!!!

Why God Matters [e-book review]

I asked to review this book. Sometimes I struggle with my faith. My hubby does alot.
Why do things happen the way they do?
What did he/me/we do so wrong to be "punished" as we always term it.
I know we are not being punished but are supposed to be learning a lesson of some kind. Sometimes it just takes us a really long time to understand that lesson fully.

After reading this e-book, some things really stand our for me.
Hubby says (and i agree) that sometimes I martyr myself.
I will suffer so someone else, either family or friend, can have what they need or want, despite my own feelings or convictions.
It's a bad ~habit~, but it's who I am.

This book really touches so many aspects, so many different areas of faith.
I love the scriptures and Life Lessons at the end of each chapter.

The book is relatively short, only 114 pages front to back, but very powerful.
Also, this book won the 2011 Christian Small Publisher Book of the Year.

Time for Wine

Let me preface this post: Any and all alcohol consumption should be done by persons 21 and older, or where legal in the state in which you live.

Hubby and I are not big drinkers. A glass of wine during holidays or social occasions. I am a HUGE fan of sweet wines.

I recently opened a bottle of  Flip Flop Moscato Wine. It was amazing. Having already stated I am not a huge drinker, I will say that I had 2.5 glasses that evening. It was just that fabulous!

My In-laws happened to be over after a vacation and my Mother-In-Law is a Moscato lover as well, so I let her have a glass. She then happened upon my 2nd bottle in the fridge and adopted it. ☺
Apparently she was having some friends over last weekend and wanted to share the delicious beverage with others.

This Californian wine tastes like Light-bodied Moscato with floral aromas, semi-sweet palate, and a soft, lingering finish.

Flip Flop Wines not only makes great wines, but they also help the community. This one of the reasons I stay with their product.

Currently, Flip Flop Wines is hosting a Blogger "good deeds challenge". Though I am not participating currently, this challenge is very noteworthy.
Soles4Souls and Flip Flop Wines work hand in hand to provide gently used shoes to impoverished areas.

If you have a chance to try any of these wines, please do so!

I love family time!

Hubby took Friday off, since he has so much time with being at his job almost 17 years. We had a Cub Scout Bike ride (den meeting), and then Karate & swim lessons.
I love when he is able to enjoy MY daily things. He would normally be at work.

Hubby and 2 other parents rode with the boys after doing extensive bike safety. We had lunch, played on the playground and just enjoyed a nice October afternoon.

My eldest decided that next weekend, he wants to be in a karate tournament. Hubby got to watch him in class. It's nice to watch his progress.

My 5 year old is finishing up swim lessons. Monday he will take his test. But on Friday, he finally , finally had a dream come true.. He was able to jump off the diving board into 11 feet of water. His swim teacher was right there and Anth made the swim across the pool and then to the wall.
it was AMAZING!

Today, instead of chores, we went to a fall festival at a local church with my bestie (her family) and a friend (and her family). The 2 older boys had armbands and rode anything and everything they could.
Hubby even rode some, as did my 2.5 year old. yes, I took lots of pictures!

As for blogging, I do have some great posts I need to get up (Yoplait, Shutterfly, Scrubbing Bubbles) and scheduled as well as letting you know that I will be hosting a Shutterfly Holiday giveaway (yay). Friday is my birthday, so I am trying to think of a good 1 day giveaway.

Sunday will be busy again with Cub Scout popcorn Show and Sell as well as taking Anth to the pool to get him some swimming practice before Monday.

Monday, i am finally getting a new phone. I am SO EXCITED! I have been counting the days (literally). I am staying with Verizon and considering the Incredible 2...We shall See!

My boys can't get enough of the Tonka XT Ricochet Trickster

Luke, Anthony, and Christopher LOVE their new Tonka XT Ricochet Trickster! They argue over whose turn it is to use the controller. Christopher takes advantage of his time alone (while the boys are at school) and has plenty of time alone trying to master this new remote controled toy.

I find the toy very durablem which is important in this house. Charging the card is easy and really, it's held an amazing charge!

The new Tonka XT line
Did you know that the Tonka XT Ricochet Trickster is a new product? In fact, it is part of a new line of toys focused on children 6 and older. The toys create an interactive and challenging way for your little daredevils to compete with friends and show off their skills.

I am a Bzzagent and received this product to review. No monetary compensation has been received and all opinions are my own.
