Project: Be Awesome [Evolution Parenting]

While looking for some positive quotes and thoughts, I stumbled across this specific page of Evolution Parenting.

The author, Josia, set up a project for herself and I love it!

Project: Be Awesome [to me] seems like a recipe for loving yourself, or helping you to get there.

The quotes and posts are amazing and self inspiring.
There are 7 rules to this project and I love them. I wish more people took stock in themselves, myself included.

As I read more of the blog, I could see how much Josia has been through in her life and how much she values this project. I love the sharing of she and her husbands love story and how candid they are are.

Back to the Project though...

One item I know I am guilty of, and many I know are, is putting yourself down. This is a no-no for the project. Another item which actually counteracts the previous is Embrace you. How crazy is that, to actually love yourself. Do we really love ourselves, or do we believe what people tell us..
The last thing I will touch on is Spread good vibes at least once a day. Not only is this great for someone else, but good for your soul. I honestly believe that.

The Author's formula is: Attitude, Give, Love yourself, Belief, karma.
I like her formula!

Evolution Parenting is a plethora of wonderful tidbits. Please check out this amazing blog and check out her project and get busy on loving YOU !!!

Festival Fun

Our yearly Citrus Festival has begun and since we have such a busy weekend,
we decided to enjoy opening night.
I biked with the little man and the kids (my other 2 and 2 neighbor kids)
scootered the 7 blocks to downtown Palm Harbor.
Everyone had wristbands which meant unlimited rides on everything.
Saved me money and having to hold tickets.
Hubby joined us after work, I was proud that he jogged from our house to the fair
and then back home.

I will tell you that all 3 of my kids slept really well, and for the 1st time this Spring Break, slept in !

It's been a relatively busy Spring Break and a prequel to Summer..
I do have to say though, bring on Monday and Back to School!
(sshh, don't tell my kiddos)

Old School Fun with Chick-fil-A - Enter to Win!

Do you remember the good ole days when we all played outside with no electronics?

Chick-fil-A wants your family to get together for these fun games!

Enter to win 1 of 3 Kids Meals from Chick-fil-A

Giving of your time

Yesterday, while out running errands, I saw sign at different places asking for volunteers.
Largo Park, the library, and I know our Elementary School is always in need of volunteers for their various events and projects.

Do you give your time?

I am not talking about the mandatory concession stand time during little league, football or sports.

Photo Credit: Seminole County Fl Gov Website
I mean, out of your comfort zone kind of volunteering.

While many of us who have small children have difficulty meeting time constraints (or the fact they they don't want kids running around), there are still so many people who take the time and make a difference. Are YOU one of those people.

I am sure there are many small places in the area in which you live, and even some large ones, that have opportunities posted, but sometimes, we immediately go online..
I researched and found some places in my area.

Food Banks and churches came up first. Then, the county in which I live, actually has a site of volunteer opportunities categorized by type. I had no idea there were so many places within the county government setting that needed volunteers.

Also, Habitat for Humanity. Love this one! So many families cannot afford housing and the work that Habitat for Humanity does really helps so many. I know it's hard work, but the care and love that you are putting into this organization probably matches the appreciation of the family who will live in that home.

Volunteering typically does not cost money, just time.

Airheads Trampoline Area

Do you have a Trampoline arena near you? This is my first time here. I have to say, it's tons of fun.
My 2 older boys are really enjoying themselves.
My youngest loved the but once he got here, he melted down.  :(

They block off the corners for the younger ones so no one gets trampled.
They even have weekday exercise classes.

I wish Cj was having a better time because it was awesome to jump!

Rubbermaid 2-in-1 Recycler

I am loving this great new Rubbermaid 2-in-1 Recycler.

Not only is this bin saving space (25% less floor space than comparable divided containers), but it has creating a focal point for our recycling. Our newspapers and #1 plastics have a home, that is contained, clean, and easy to access for the entire family.

The 13.2 gal container is split into 2 parts. The bottom section is 8 gal and features and system that allows your liner bag to stay in place.
What else is awesome is that each bin has  their own handles in the event you need to take your recycling to a larger container and dump it or for us, to transport or newspapers.

The Rubbermaid 2-in1 recycler is made from recyclable materials and itself is recyclable.

Disclosure: I received this product from Rubbermaid directly as part of their blogger program. The opinions in the review are 100% mine. No monetary compensation was received. EDROML adheres to FTC Guidelines and my disclosure policy can be read here.

Cheerios, Books, and Children

I was asked to share the following information. After reading about the program, it was a no-brainer.
"Breakfast and a Book" is an amazing concept for so many reasons. Many children do not have an opportunity to have a book read to them every day. Reading is such an important tool. Reading fosters imagination, it allows us to be transported to another place, another time. Children deserve this opportunity.

Read more about this Program below:

Cheerios® Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary of its Spoonfuls of Stories®Program by Providing Six Million Children’s Books Inside Boxes

Actress Jennie Garth Kicks off “Breakfast & A Book” Events to Encourage Parents and Kids to Read Together

MINNEAPOLIS (March 20, 2012) – Today,Cheerios®, alongside actress and mom Jennie Garth, will launch the first in a series of “Breakfast & A Book” reading events to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of its Spoonfuls of Stories® program, which will once again provide more than six million bilingual children’s books free inside specially-marked cereal boxes, while supplies last.
For the second consecutive year, Garth will lead a special book reading for Los Angeles-area children and encourage donations to First Book, a national nonprofit that, like Cheerios, recognizes that access to books is one barrier to literacy development.[1] This year, to help address this issue and commemorate its 10-year milestone, Cheerios will give 5,000 children’s books to10 First Book local volunteer chapters nationwide and make a $300,000 donation to the organization.

Over the next few weeks, VIPs, including past Spoonfuls of Stories authors, will follow Garth’s lead and hold similar readings in their hometowns, including Washington, D.C., Charlotte, Philadelphia, Houston, San Antonio and Seattle. Each event will offer attending and area residents the opportunity to support Cheerios’ quest to get books into kids’ hands by making a donation to First Book via their mobile phones.* Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing will match each donation made via text (up to 50,000 books).

“For the past 10 years, Spoonfuls of Stories has enabled Cheerios to nourish young minds and bodies,” said Meredith Tutterow, associate director, Cheerios.  “When children across the country open our cereal boxes and discover a new book inside, it is our hope that they will also discover a limitless love of reading that will allow them to grow and succeed for years to come.”
As a mother of three, Garth understands the importance of fostering a child’s love of reading at a young age. “Parents play a key role in helping their children become readers, which is why reading is a daily ritual in my family,” she said. “As a mother and advocate for childhood literacy, I am proud to once again support the Cheerios Spoonfuls of Stories program, which has helped young children cultivate an interest in reading simply by providing access to books.”

This year’s in-pack book offerings, all of which are from award-winning authors, appropriate for children ages three to eight and from Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing, are:
·        Peeny Butter Fudge, by Toni and Slade Morrison and illustrated by Joe Cepeda
·        Mostly Monsterly, by Tammi Sauer and illustrated by Scott Magoon
·        Noodle & Lou, by Elizabeth Garton Scanlon and illustrated by Arthur Howard
·        If I Were a Jungle Animal, by Amanda Ellery and illustrated by Tom Ellery
·        Hello Baby, by Mem Fox and illustrated by Steve Jenkins
·        Can I Just Take a Nap?, by Ron Rauss and illustrated by Rob Shepperson

Over the past 10 years, Cheerios has distributed more than 60 million children’s books inside boxes and donated $3.8 million to First Book to help ensure children from low-income families have age-appropriate books at home.

To learn more about Spoonfuls of Stories, the “Breakfast & A Book” events and this year’s in-pack books, or to donate to First Book, go to

*By using short code 20222 and texting Books2Kids, a $5 donation will be made (and will appear on the primary subscriber’s cell phone bill), providing two new books to a child in need.  Standard messaging rates will apply.

Annie's Organic Rising Crust Pizza Review / Giveaway

Have you tried Orangic Pizza? I have never. Well, not until Mom's Meet allowed my family to try Annie's Homegrown Organic Rising Crust Pizza. This pizza is only sold at Whole Foods. The closest one to me is 40 minutes. We made it an outing where we learned more about organic foods.

We chose the plain cheese pizza, since it was something everyone would eat.

The opinions varied. I liked it. You could tell the crust was similar to leading rising crust pizza's.
The cheese tasted just a little different. My 6yo picked out, right away, that this was a new pizza, and we had to persuade him it was okay to eat. My 2yo didn't care where the pizza came from, just that he ate 2 pieces of it. My 9yo asked more questions. What is organic, why is it better, why have we not eaten this before?

Thanks to Moms Meet and the wonderful PR team, I was able to sample an Annie's Homegrown Organic Rising Crust Pizza, and 3 of my readers will get to do the same.

Annie's Homegrown Organic Rising Crust Pizza
is only sold at Whole Foods Stores

The coupon has an expiration date of September 30, 2012 and is good for any variety of Annie's Homegrown Organic Pizza. Redeemable ONLY at Whole Foods Markets. (Maximum Value $10.99)

You Never Lose site review

Recently, I was given the opportunity to review a new site called You Never Lose.
I was given 20 credits to try the site. Let me tell you about my experience.

You create a free account. There is a "coupon" area where i placed my redemption code.
Typically, you earn "Reward Points" by purchasing a gift card.

You can purchase gift cards (that you receive in the mail) and the corresponding amount of points is added to your balance

You take those credits and bid on gift cards.

I didn't win any unfortunately, but it was cool trying to win.

I did not purchase any gift cards so I cannot tell you how easily that takes place. It really is a win-win situation. You get a gift card with free shipping and then also the opportunity to win more cards, sometimes at 95% off of the retail price.

Looking ahead

I cannot believe March has only 2 weeks left in the month and then it will be April.

We have Spring Break soon and also a birthday coming up. It amazes me that my little man will be 3 in just 2 weeks.

Our weekend has been quiet as my poor hubby has been under the weather. Too much stress has just taken it's toll on him.

This coming week I want to try and take on one of my cabinets for painting. We purchased a Rustoleum kit and now I just have to get motivated to use it!

Hope everyone's weekend has gone well. Th weather here in Central Florida is spectacular and I hope where ever you are, it is perfect for you!

Everyday Ramblings of My Life

Love VoxBox from Influenster

I have been reviewing some products I received in a great Box from Influenster.
It's called the Love Voxbox.

I received an items from each of the following sponsors Ghiradelli, Kiss Nail Dress, Truvia, Stash Tea, and Gillette Venus Razor.

I loved the box and was pleasantly surprised by the Truvia. I had never tried it. It reminded me of sugar, though (to me) it definitely had a different taste.

I tried the Truvia in the Stash Tea. I'm not a fan of flavored teas, but I gave it a shot. Still not a fan, by the way. Hubby had the peppermint tea one night and the Lemon Ginger at work. He loves the Stash teas.

I am already a fan of Ghiradelli and the chocolate was a hit in the house. I actually only was able to taste a small square because the small sugar thieves in my house devoured the rest. It was very creamy and not at all bitter.

The Kiss Nail Dress are nail stickers, essentially. I've tried a different brand previously and have really enjoyed wearing them. They were easy on and easy off. I did not try these because, well, they are animal print. Maybe if it were polka dots or even black. I've seen other great colors from the Kiss brand and am very likely going to try them in the future.

The Gillette Venus Razor with Olay was fabulous ! I tried it this morning actually and my legs feel amazing! I am already a Venus razor user, but really felt like the Olay just brought something more to the product.

All in all, the Influenster Love Voxbox was awesome. Something for each person in my family (although I'm not sure that's how it was intended).

I would definitely buy these brands again, trying different styles, or flavors.

Here is a video review of the products I received

Giving, with rewards

Ah, Rewards.. Well, giving of itself is a reward.
But I'm, talking about different kinds of rewards today..

Some of us collect points, codes, make purchases where a % goes to a charity or school.

That's today's giving topic.

Have picked up a Target Red Card and noticed that they say a % goes to a school of your choice? All you have to do is log on to your account and designate a school. My son's Elementary school benefits when I use my Target Card. I cannot always afford to donate during their events or purchase through all the fundraisers. But if I need to purchase toilet paper, diapers and cleaning supplies and it helps the school in any way, I'm there!

There are all kinds of reward programs that offer not only an incentive for you or your family, but to charity as well.

If you have a child in diapers, I bet you collect Huggies and Pampers Points. Pampers offers you the opportunity to choose through 4 different charities (10 points = $0.10).
Huggies offers an opportunity to assist a baby with diapers. I had no idea that some parents have to reuse a soiled diaper because they cannot afford them.
Photo Credit: Huggies Every Little Bottom promotion
After reading about this, I used a great big chunk of my points towards this charity!

My Coke Rewards (if you drink coke and collect the codes) also offers a variety of charities as well as donating to your school of choice.

Some bank cards that allow you to earn points,
also allow you to donate some to specific charities they work with.

Sometimes it's difficult to part with those points isn't it? You are saving up for something particular, or just hoarding them (I did that and then the program ended and I forfeited everything ugh).

But being able to assist someone less fortunate, a school, a program, a baby who can have a fresh diaper, is an amazing personal reward. When I teach my children about helping others, about giving just a little part of what we have, or earn, I earn a reward. Especially if they are eager to help.

Driveway Art

My eldest was bored so I told him to use the chalk and use his imagination.

I love when my boys draw, they are so different and they come up with some crazy things.

After what only felt like 5 seconds (which was really more than 30 minutes),
I was called to see his masterpiece.

Our entire driveway is a friendly welcome sign.

Working magic in my kitchen with a Giani Granite Countertop Kit

It's been an awesome experience transforming our kitchen counter tops.
I must admit I procrastinated because I received this kit in the later part of January and only started the project last weekend.
My husband was trying to make bets on if I would complete it and whether it would look good.
(I wish I would have made those bets with him!)

Giani Granite offers several different design selections but I chose the Chocolate Brown Paint Kit. The kit covers 35 sq. ft. and comes with all the items you need to complete the project (primer, 3 colors, sealer, roller handle with 2 rollers, foam brush and sponge). It also comes with a DVD and printed instructions, plus a test paper so you can try out your sponging techniques on the paper before you head to your counter.
