  5. Last year actually, the family gathered to celebrate Mothers Day as my Mom was turning 90! Although the weather was a bit cool, we tok her to the Botanic Gardens where we took a trolley/train tour through the massive grounds, then a long walk (with her in a wheel chair) and then back to their beautiful terrace restaurant (over looking a river and a beautiful view) for drink.

Then we all went back to my sister's house (it's tucked at the edge of an enhanted (enchanting) forest / prairie meadows) for a very special Swedish style/and BBQ dinner (her family heritage) watching the deer roam and the sunset and the Koi in a pond/pool they had built. It was all around a lovely and memorable Mothers Day - and probably the last one where we were able to take her out for such a "big day!"

  8. My greatest memory is the year that my son set his alarm clock to get up at 4:00 a.m. so he could cook me breakfast. I think he had to sit for a while after he cooked it because he realized he did not want to wake me up so early....thankfully.

  9. I remember the Mother's Day that my whole family (children, grandchildren) rented a van and drove to another state to surprise my mother. We even took lunch with us so that she would have to do nothing.

  12. I can't say that any one Mother's Day really stands out to me as being any more memorable than the rest of them. Being that I'm not a mother yet all my Mother's Days are spent either with my Mom or my Step-Mom. Usually I buy them each a plant (Lilly, hyacinth, hydrangea, etc.) and whoever I'm spending the day with we go out to dinner. Nothing overly exciting.
