Sharing our experice with our new fun Christmas gift ! Let's make #homemade Ice Cream

My awesome "sister" Katie loves to give fun family gifts. She currently doesn't have any offspring of her won (but that will hopefully change soon), so she spoils mine.

We are always wondering what kind of gifts she will spring on us...

I love the off-the-wall gifts she gives hubby. This year was truly no disappointment !!

Feeling Squatchy?

Hubby loves all things Bigfoot [Sasquatch, Yeti], so Katie capitalized on that with her fun gift to him this year.

But her family gift was an ice cream maker, Not just any ice cream maker either. She's about go big or go home, so this is a fancy one (by our standards). We received a Cuisinart ICE-70 Electronic Ice Cream Maker.

We finally made ice cream last night. We started the process the day before with creating our ingredient mixture and then allowing it to refrigerate for almost 24 hours. We also had the canister in the freezing for 2 days, so it was nice and cold.

The Cuisinart ICE-70 Electronic Ice Cream Maker boasts some great features:
Makes 2-quarts of ice cream, frozen yogurt, gelato or sorbet
Improved paddle with faster processing time
Control panel with LCD screen and 3 settings with multiple speeds
Countdown timer with auto shutoff
Ingredient spout with integrated measuring cup

We decided to go with old fashion vanilla and once the ice cream was ready, we scooped out half, added some cocoa powder, and made chocolate ice cream!

We are pleased with how well this frozen treat came out and will explore other types of delicious concoctions later. I believe our next stop is gelato.
