Post Run Results #WDW10K

We have successfully completed 6.2 miles during the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend.

This was my husband's 1st 10k and 1st Disney race. While he was excited for the experience, I think we were both excited for a night away. The Grandparents kindly stayed home with the kids, so they could go to school on Friday.

The weather was so lovely on Thursday night, but at 4am on Friday morning, we woke to rain. There was a constant drizzle as we drove to Epcot, and as Murphy's Law would have it, we were ill prepared for the larger drops that hit our bare heads. No tents for us to hide in, no ponchos to protect us.

Before the 10k began, and the rain really came down !
Fireworks as the 1st Corral began running !
Hubby went off about 30 minutes before I did, I'm guessing due to pace time. They put is in different corrals, so we said our goodbyes and went on our way.

Hubby finished before me, and graciously waited for me at the bag check. Not that he could leave, since I had the car keys (ha). The rain had stopped mid run and it was an enjoyable run. I crossed the finish line and as soon as I found hubby, guess what? It began raining again! Large cold mean drops of rain soaking us all over again.
And we're done.. soaked shoes and cold from the rain and sweat, but happy !

We both agreed that the hot shower never felt better.

Today (1/1016), just 2 days after his 1st Disney 10k, hubby said to me, "I can't wait to do that again". That makes me happy !

Here are our official results ↓

I'm excited to tell you that I finished 2 minutes and 15 seconds LESS than last year !!!
A new PR for me and now, I must strive to keep that and do even better

  1. Congratulations on your race! I didn't run this year, but by reading everyone's experience and meeting a few runners over the weekend I am going to sign up for my first 10k (the princess 2017 one).

Thank you for sharing your ramblings with me
