The 5k Zombie Run - Can you Escape the hoard ?

Disclosure: My blog received 2 entries for personal use. This is a sponsored post. All opinions are my own.

Usually, this race is for my hubby and son. But with a man down with the flu, I stepped in to run with my oldest kiddo. I was not prepared !

Luke and I love to run together. We are both a part of the "I Run 4 Michael" organization, which makes each of our races special.

Escape Countdown Tampa through the eyes of Jenny from Metamorfit #ad

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” - The Mad Hatter
I recently gave away a 4 pack for someone here in the Tampa (or Sarasota) area, to experience Escape Countdown Tampa or Sarasota. I had a set of tickets to use for review purposes ← Disclosure , but then realized that hubby and I would not have any time to get to the location in the time frame needed, especially since he came down with the flu.
I turned to my good friend Jenny from Metamorfit, and asked if she would be willing to go in my place.
She graciously and excitedly accepted ! So here is the Escape Countdown Tampa through her eyes ! Thank you Jenny !

On Saturday March 12th I had the opportunity to experience something that has been on my “to-do” list for a few months. My husband and I, along with two of my friends got locked in a room for 60 minutes with only our wits and a few clues. We had the choice of three uniquely different immersive entertainment experiences. Being avid readers (and two of us are librarians) we chose to participate in the Mad Hatter experience.

We were instructed to arrive 15 minutes early to sign a few waivers (WHAT????) and go over a few directions and then we were locked behind that red door. We had 60 minutes to find clues, use those clues to figure out other clues, and get ourselves out of the room. The 4 of us were in a very small room. Very small. It was hot, humid, and foggy (it reminded me of being in a rainforest) and wonderfully decorated to look like a forest. It took us 20 minutes to open up a combination lock that was attached to a large “tree.” When we pushed the tree, we fell down the rabbit hole and emerged into the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party! With 40 minutes left, we worked furiously to figure out the clues, signs, and determine what were the red herrings. We laughed, we worked together, and we had so much fun! With 5 minutes left to spare, we figured out the last clue and we were OUT! It was a wonderful experience. It was the first “date” that my husband and I had been on in quite a few months and we really enjoyed ourselves. I think that this would be a great date for any couple. You work together, you bond over shared experiences, and it gives you something to talk about over dinner You can check out Escape Countdown Tampa on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/escapecountdowntampa/ Or their webpage here: http://www.escapecountdown.com/book-your-escape-countdown-experience-now/book-now-tampa-bay/
The husband and I are already planning our next escape! We’d love to do all of the rooms. I think our next one will be Escape from Gaspar Island. I hope we can make it out!

Hard Work pays off ! Our family project for the "Family Life" merit badge

Last month, my oldest had to work on a family project for his Family Life Merit Badge. It's an Eagle required badge and I happen to find that it's one of my favorite Merit Badges yet.

Here were his instructions:
Plan and carry out a project that involves the participation of your family. After completing the project, discuss the following with your merit badge counselor:
a. The objective or goal of the project
b. How individual members of your family participated
c. The results of the project

The project ended up being to take out all of the landscape timbers that lined our back fence area and replace them with stone. Stone is quite expensive !
I did some research ahead of time and found a lady about 20 minutes from us, who had quite a bit of stone she needed to get rid of. We spent $30.00 and took everything we needed.

Our initial plan was to have enough stone to line the fence, make a pathway to the trampoline from the porch and possibly build a fire pit.

We made 3 trips in the van with all of the stone. Hubby was out of town on business, so my Boy Scout, 2 Cub Scouts and I transported everything.

After my Gasparilla 15k, we decided to get working on the removal of the timbers. It made for a long day, but the project was going to finish itself.

Could you Escape ? Check out this new attraction in Tampa and Sarasota ! #EscapeCountdown #ad

Disclosure:

Escape Countdown, Tampa and Sarasota’s newest live-action based entertainment experience is now open to the public. Escape Countdown will initially feature two adventures with Mad Hatter and Jail Break themes.

Escape Countdown is a fully immersive entertainment game where teams of two or more work together to discover clues, solve puzzles and use critical thinking skills to escape “the room”
within 60 minutes. The “experiences,” as the rooms are called, are themed and range from a
prisoner breaking out of jail to an explorer trying to find his way back home after meeting the
Mad Hatter. New themes will be added to the attraction in the first few months after the
opening and themes will change regularly to keep the attraction new.

“Our goal is to make this a premium experience. We want to be more like the Disney of escape
room attractions” says Brent Alexander, CEO of Houdini Partner Group. “We are excited to see
how the public will respond to this unique concept that is taking the world by storm.”

I am giving away 4 tickets to attend either the Tampa Or Sarasota Escape Countdown Experience
You must attend by March 18, 2016

This is a quick giveaway, ending on 3/10/16 in order to give time to attend !

Sleeping with the Fishes. Our Cub Scout overnight at the Aquarium !

Hello from The Florida Aquarium !

Our Cub Scout Pack recently had an educational sleepover at The Florida Aquarium.
30 of our 46 boys attended this one night camp.

We didn't spend the night having staring contests with fish, I promise.
The fish won, by the way.
